A Mental Health Steering Group including clergy and laity, service users and carers, has been in existence since 2008. This group was responsible for the Community Culture and Mental conference in February 2010 and the conference "Dementia: Opening the door on small tragedies" which took place on 9 July 2011 in Ashbourne.

Beyond the Lunch Club: Transforming communities and churches through better understanding and engagement with older people

This day will help you understand and engage more with local older people. The day will be interactive and provocative with learning from practitioners, theorists, one another and older people themselves. You will leave with knowledge, skills, confidence and ideas for first actions.
Facilitators: Briony Broome, Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care, Rev. Dr. Keith Albans, Director of Chaplaincy & Spirituality, Methodist Homes for the Aged, Mo Smith, Founder and Chair of Regenerate-RISE whose vision is to eradicate isolation amongst older people through a programme of care and support in the community across the UK . She is also Chair of VOX (Valuing Older eXperience) and has initiated three registered charities and one Community Interest Company.
